Hey, I saw you asking how to break FD in HDFC and can help you with the process. You can do so by going to the netbanking of HDFC. Let me share the steps below.
How to Break FD Online in HDFC?
Here is the complete process to liquidate your FDs online:
Go to the Netbanking page on
HDFC Bank’s website
and log in using your Netbanking ID and password.
Choose the Liquidate Fixed Deposit option, which you will find under the Fixed Deposit Menu on the left side of the page.
Select the Fixed Deposit Account Number from the drop-down lists.
Click on Continue and confirm the entered information.
The applicable interest rate for premature withdrawal, inclusive of Sweep-in or Partial Withdrawal will be 1 per cent lower than the rate on the booking date of deposit. This will be counted till the period for which the deposit stayed with the bank and not at the contracted rate.
When I liquidated my FD, I found that the premature closure of FDs had a penal charge of 1 percent. This is except for the following situations:
Deposit booked with tenor 7-14 days
NRE fixed deposits.
Customer deceased
Single Deposit booked with amount >= 5.25 Cr to < 5.50 Cr
Single Deposit booked with amount >=24.75 Cr to < 25 Cr
Single FD booked with value >=25 crore
As far as I think, the steps in the app should be the same. However, it will be helpful if someone can share the process in depth. This is all I am aware of regarding the way to break FD. I hope you find the information useful.
