Hi Buddy,
In a five-star hotel room, I saw a glass block wall. The beauty astounded me. As a result, I decided to construct one at my home. I sought advice from a home interior designer. Glass blocks are a fascinating alternative to more typical building materials, with a wide range of sizes, colours, and designs to select from. They're especially useful in kitchens and bathrooms because they can withstand grease and moisture. They're a chic way to separate space while maximising light.
Get Your home a brand new modular look along with the installation of glass block wall from the NoBroker home interior service.Glass brick walls are architectural elements that can serve as both functional decor and security in your home.
Your internal areas will be enhanced by a glass block shower wall or kitchen partition. When a simple window covering isn't enough to keep your basement or bathroom private, consider installing glass block windows.
I was able to build a glass brick wall at my home with the help of a NoBroker home interior expert. I could describe the installation process to you because I have seen it.
How to build a glass block wall- Measure:
the area where you will be installing glass blocks with tape, to determine the glass block sizes that will fit. To align the installation area, use a level.
Tip: To lay the groundwork for placing glass blocks in your windows, bathroom, or kitchen, draw a diagram of the proposed installation
- Installing the Correct Glass Block:
To complete your project, make sure to select the correct corner glass block;
7.75 x 7.75 inches and 5.75 x 5.75 inches are the most prevalent sizes
For ornamental embellishments, choose a transparent glass block with a design
For added security, choose a glass block with a stronger design and opaque glass
- Mix the Glass Block Mortar:
If your product does not provide instructions for mixing the glass block mortar for this project, white masonry cement, mortar cement, and sand should be mixed with water
- Apply a Bed of Mortar to Level the Surface:
Apply a bed of mortar to the surface with a trowel.
When installing glass block windows with mortar, you can adjust the fit with the mortar mix or add glass block spacers to allow you up to an inch between each glass block for uneven project areas
- Create your first row of glass blocks by placing each block one by one on the surface:
Make sure you're working on a level surface
- Reinforce Glass Block Installation:
When placing glass blocks, place anchors and reinforcing rods every two feet to provide strength and stability
- Residue from the Mortar:
Repeat the instructions above till the wall is finished
Clean any stray mortar or residue off the faces of the block with a moist cloth when installing glass block windows with mortar
Allow 24 to 48 hours for the mortar to cure and settle into the glass block
Tip: If the weather is extremely hot, the mortar should be maintained moistened and left to dry naturally during the curing process. Spray the glass block with water if necessary, then cover or surround the glass block with plastic or a large trash bag
- Seal the Glass Blocks:
After the mortar has been completely set, use a glass block sealant to seal the perimeter and joints
Because of the thickness of the faces and the mortar that holds the blocks together, glass blocks are intrinsically stronger than regular glass. I am very happy with the glass block wall that is installed at my home. All thanks to NoBroker's expert home interior staff.
