How to build decorative ceiling beams?Make a 3-sided box from one 1×4 and two 1×6 wooden boards. You can use wood of your choice.
Then attach 2x6 cleats to the joints in the ceiling. The beam will hinge on the joints.

You can take polyurethane, veneered plywood, or reclaimed lumber and make a 45-degree bevel with 5-1/2-in deep cuts.
With wood glue or reinforced packing tape, join the box with the bevel. Your beam is now ready.
To give a better finish, run a screwdriver shaft on the corners of the beam.
You can even paint the beam with a base colour or primer before adding your pattern.
Let the paint dry before the next step.
Hang the beams on the pilot files, and fasten the beam to the cleats with the help of trim screws.
