How to calculate EB bill in Tamil Nadu?

The usage of units and the slab it falls under is used to determine the TNEB bill. One unit of power is priced in accordance with the slab as described below:

  • 0 to 100 units:

Free of charge

  • 0 to 200 units:

It’s free for the first 100 units, for the remaining balance Rs.1.5 per unit

  • For 0 to 500 units:

It’s free for the first 100 units, for next 100 Rs.2 per unit, for balance Rs.3 per unit

  • Above 500 units:

It’s free for the first 100 units, 101 to 200 units cost Rs.3.5 per unit; next 201 to 500 units cost Rs.4.6 per unit; and units over 500 costs Rs.6.6 per unit.

  How to calculate electricity bill in TamilNadu :
  • Open the website of 

Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO).

  • The website has a calculator portal wherein you can easily calculate your electricity bill.

  • Fill in the details including billing cycle, no. of consumed units, contracted load, etc.

  • Once all the details are filled, hit enter.

  • Your electricity bill amount will be displayed on the screen. 

  • You will be able to see fixed charges amount, electricity tax amount, electricity duty amount, and more.

  How to calculate electricity bill in Tamil Nadu :

You can download the TANGEDCO app from the app store and undergo all the steps mentioned above to calculate your electricity bill.

  How to calculate electricity bill from meter reading in Tamil Nadu?

You can calculate your electricity bill by looking at the meter reading. You can note the number units you have used and make an assumption about your bill according to cost per unit.

  Cost per unit :  
  • The cost of 0 to 100 units is zero. It is free of cost.

  • The cost of 0 to 200 units is free for the first 100 units and then Rs. 1.5 per unit.
