Hi Hitesh,

While I am writing this answer, I got reminded of my time when I was confused just like you. I could relate to that meme that is doing rounds these days, “

kya bol rahe ho kuch samajh nahi aa raha hai

” (I hope you know Jethalal’s voice :P). Anyway, I can help you find out how to calculate power factor in electricity bill now.

Power factor is basically an expression of energy efficiency. When I say that, I mean you can determine the ratio of working power to apparent power or demand.

How to calculate power factor in electricity bill?

To calculate power factor in electricity bill you need to work with the following formula:

PF = (True power)/(Apparent power)

You should know that the maximum power occurs when the two voltage and current waveforms are lined up with each other. When both peak and zero crossover points occur at the same time that is when maximum power occurs, therefore two waveforms are said to be ‘in phase’ in that case.

I hope you now have some idea about how to calculate power factor.
