My AC was not cooling properly and I thought it might be because it has become old. I hired an AC technician from NoBroker and asked him if I should change the AC.   • Purchase a New Capacitor
One thing my technician suggested is that before purchasing a new capacitor, you should locate the current capacitor inside the panel and take note of all the information in the sticker, including its tolerance, capacitance, and load voltage. This is to ensure that you purchase a capacitor with those exact specifications.
  • Detach the Capacitor and Name the Wires
Grab the blade of an insulated screwdriver to remove the capacitor. This will ensure that there is no electricity left inside the capacitor. The next thing is to examine the old capacitor. The old capacitor should have tags that show where each wire proceeds. “Herm” for compressor, “Fan” for fan, and “C” for common.
  • Insert a New Capacitor
This is the most crucial step of how to change a capacitor on AC unit. Just ensure that the new capacitor is positioned in the same place as the old one. To secure it perfectly, you can use a mounting strap.
  • Switch on the Power and Test
