Hey there. We earlier had brown cabinets in our kitchen. I got bored of the theme and nwated to switch the colour to a lighter and a neutral one. So, I decided on white and took help from a friend to paint the cabinets a few months ago. I can thus help you by writing down how to change brown cabinets to white. The process isn’t too complicated, but you’d have to give it enough time for a good result.

How to Change Brown Kitchen Cabinets to White?

Here is the method you can follow to paint your brown cabinets white:

  1. Begin by removing the doors of the cabinets. This will make the process easier.

  2. Wipe the doors and the body of the cabinets by dipping a soft dry cloth into a solution of warm water and mild soap. Use another soft dry cloth to wipe later.

  3. Depending on the condition of the cabinets, you can sand them. If there are chips, uneven surfaces and all, do sand using 150-grit sandpaper to smoothen the area.

  4. Use a white primer to coat the cabinet completely. Apply an even and thin coat of the primer.

  5. Let the primer dry completely and then move on to painting the cabinet.

  6. Apply 2-3 coats of the paint in thin and even coats. Wait between coats for the previous one to dry completely.

  7. Let the last coat dry and then assemble the cabinet by reattaching the doors.

That is all you have to do in order to paint the brown cabinets white. I hope the steps help you.
