My sister bought an apartment in Mumbai. She recently changed the builder’s name from her Mahanagar gas bill to her own. I was wondering how to change name on Mahanagar gas bill online. She said that one just needs to visit the

portal to change the name. 

When Can You Apply for a Name Change in Mahanagar Gas Bill?

My sister said that under the following circumstances, customers can apply for a name transfer: 

• Sale of an apartment

• Mortgaged apartment

• Rental or leased apartment

• Death of a registered customer

• Gift transfer

• Name transfer from builder to owner.

What is the Process of Mahanagar Gas Bill Name Change Online? 

• As I mentioned earlier, for the name transfer process, she visited this

• She just had to enter her BP or CA number, and mobile number

• Followed by clicking on the “GO” button to initiate the name transfer process.

• She also downloaded and submitted this

  No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Previous Gas Consumer

You can change your name online, Mahanagar gas ( MGL) has introduced a name transfer facility online. There are certain conditions where the facility can be used i.e. sale of flat, mortgaged flat, rental/ pagdi/ leased flat, the demise of a registered customer, gift transfer, name transfer from builder to owner.

You can get the gas connection transferred to your name from the HGL website. You can even track your transfer status from the MGL website.

Here is the process to track your ‘ name transfer’ application:

• Open the portal:

• www.mahanagargas.com/PNG/GetNameTransferStatus.aspx

• Enter your application number

• Enter the captcha 

• Hit enter. 

• You can see if your application is being processed/ pending or whether the action is completed.

On the link given above, you will have to enter a CA or BP number as appearing on your bill. After that, follow the instructions to apply for the same.
