2. Proof of Address (Overseas): Utility bills, bank statements, or any other valid overseas address proof.

3. Proof of Address (Indian, if applicable): Aadhaar card, voter ID, or any other acceptable document.

After filling out the form, submit it online and pay the required fee (which may vary based on whether the communication address is in India or abroad).

You’ll receive an acknowledgment slip after successful submission.

How to Update NRI Status on PAN Card?

1. First, go to the

   Income Tax portal

2. Then, click on Know Your AO.

3. Fill in your PAN and mobile number.

4. Click the Continue button.

5. Fill in the OTP and then click on Validate. 

You can also raise a grievance with the documents to update your residential status from Resident to Non Resident by logging into the ITD portal and choosing the department as AO and the sub-category as Others.

Once you have completed all the steps, you need to proceed to the following steps.

1. Log into the

   Income Tax e-portal

2. Click on My Profile and then select Edit.

3. Select Non Resident and then click on Save.
