    GST portal

. After logging in, go to the “Services” tab, then select Registration > Amendment of Registration Non-Core Fields.

  • This section is specifically for making amendments that do not involve a change in the core business structure, like a change in proprietor’s name.

  • Within the amendment section, locate the “Business Details” option. Here, you can edit the proprietor's name if it has changed legally, often due to circumstances like marriage, court orders, or other valid reasons. Ensure you have supporting documentation before proceeding.

  • Enter the new name as per the legal document (such as PAN or Aadhaar). After updating, review all other details in the form to confirm accuracy.

  • Attach the necessary documents showing the name change, such as the updated PAN card, marriage certificate, or any other document proving the change. The portal will prompt you to upload these in PDF or JPEG format.

After filling in and reviewing all details, submit the amendment request using a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) or Electronic Verification Code (EVC), as required. Once submitted, the application goes to a GST officer for approval. You can track its status by going to Services > Registration > Track Application Status.

Upon approval, the GST portal will notify you via email and SMS. The new proprietor’s name will be updated in your GST registration.
