How to Change Ration Card Type?

Hi there. A friend of mine who lives in the Kalaburagi district of Karnataka asked me about the procedure for ration card type change. I have lived in Karnataka for the majority of my life. As I had the same process a few months back, I thought of helping my friend with the process. Let me share that with you as well.

How to change the ration card type

1. Visit the official

   website

   of The Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs.

2. Click on the menu option on the right-hand side. 

3. Then click on the e-services opinion.

4. Click on the icon placed on the left-hand side of your screen.

5. Click on the E-Ration Card option.

6. Under the tab, you will find the sub-tab named “Amendment Request”. Click on it.

7. You will find the link based on different districts such as Bengaluru, Kalaburagi, and more. Click the link of your district.

8. Enter your ration card number and the information regarding the amendment request.

9. Click on the submit button after filling in all the details.

This procedure is for Karnataka state only. You can do the same by visiting the official state website where you reside.

Not just because it serves the purpose of providing food grains at subsidised rates, but also because it serves as a legal document and an identity proof for people holding a ration card. But many times it happens that people are unaware of changing their card type. It was just last week when my house help asked me to help her change her ration card type because she had no idea on how to change ration card type. • Visit the TNPDS official website and click on ‘click here to change their card type’ on the homepage.

• Enter your mobile number and captcha and register your mobile number.

• Post this, you will receive an OTP on your number which you are required to enter in the OTP box and click on submit.

• A form will open in which you need to enter all the necessary details and click on submit.

• After this, your card type will be changed.

I helped my house help in understanding how to change ration card type online for changing her TNPDS Sugar card to Rice card. Here is the process for the same.

• Visit the TNPDS website and follow the same process as mentioned above.

• After you enter the OPT you recieve on your registered mobile number, you will be able to view a dashboard page.

• On the dashboard page click on the option of changing the ration card to rice card.

• Click on the disclaimer that comes after that and enter your details and submit.

• You will receive an acknowledgement and a reference number which you can use to check the status of change of your ration card.
