I thought I needed to visit the electricity board office and get my name changed there. However I was not ready to make so much fuss and gladly asked my friend whether it can be done online or not to which he said it can be done.

 

Just visit the official site of your state's electricity board and you will need to provide the customer Id or phone number to do it. However it sometimes fails to work as well so I will also share with you the process of doing it offline.

 

To change the name online, visit the office of the electricity board and submit an application form as well as the documents required to change your surname. The authorities will then onwards look upon the matter and it will be done quickly.
