What is the process to change taxpayer type in GST?

You need to visit the GST portal to change taxpayer in GST.

The first scenario would be: Changing taxpayer from Regular to Composition

You can change regular to composition taxpayer type by going to services > Registration> Application to Opt for Composition Levy.  This will change your existing taxpayer type easily.

The scenario would be: Changing taxpayer from Composition to Regular

To change from composite to regular go to services > Registration> Application for Withdrawal from Composition Levy.

You won't be able to find any modifications on other types of fields as of now. So, as a taxpayer, you have to apply for cancellation of registration and apply for fresh registration for a new type of registration. Before applying for a changing taxpayer carefully look at all the returns related to the type of registration you obtained.
