You can see the BTUs mentioned in the package and with it, you can find the tonnage of your AC. Just divide the BTUs by 12,000 and you will get it. For example if your AC is 36,000 BTUs, it is 36000/12000= 3 ton AC.
How to know ton of AC if BTU is not mentioned?Some manufacturers provide the BTU information in their model number so if you are unable to see a 5 digit number, be sure that you will get to see a three digit number starting with 0 or a 2 digit number. For eg: when we looked in our neighbour’s AC package, we saw a number 018 which is actually 18000 BTUs. So 18000/12000= 1.5 Tons AC
