A plot owner can now submit a request online for the land to be used for something other than agriculture. The state administration has moved the procedure online in an effort to reduce the linkage between landowners and revenue agencies.

Large bribes are frequently demanded land conversion by bureaucrats. Landowners frequently experience injustice from the revenue department, when paperwork is held up until favours are swapped.

Affidavit conversion status

While the government has previously simplified the procedure by amending Section 95 of the Karnataka Land Revenue Act of 1964, "deemed conversion" has also been made possible through new software. According to its application, such cases would be declared converted if the potential land conversion is in line with the Master Plan issued under the Karnataka city and country planning Act of 1961.

However, the new procedure calls for the following actions to be taken: An online request for information about the property, including the survey number and an affidavit, must be made by the applicant.

The software will then submit the application to the relevant urban development authority (UDA) after receiving these. UDA officials will examine if the proposal is in accordance with the area's master plan. The applicant will be asked to pay the cost and any penalties, if applicable, also online by the authorities after the UDA reviews the application and the details are validated (K2 software).

The conversion order will be digitally signed by the relevant deputy commissioner, and the landlord or applicant can save and print it.
