One of the important ways you can make your cabinets childproof is keeping dangerous items locked by attaching latches. My husband and I were planning to baby proof our kitchen and bathroom cabinets. My cousin has a two-year-old kid, and she told me all about making her kitchen baby proof. I asked her how to childproof kitchen drawers. She told me the best way is through getting magnetic locks.
How to Babyproof Drawers?
She told me about different locks that professionals recommend making a drawer childproof. I remember her mentioning magnetic, spring, and adhesive locks, out of which they were planning to go with magnetic. I still wondered how secure it would be and asked her if they were going to drill into the cabinets. She showed me an online video of the process and here are a few steps I remember.
You must first clean the inside of the cabinet and the corresponding frame where the lock will be installed.
I learned there is no need for drilling with magnetic locks. You can just use an adhesive and press the lock mechanism firmly onto the inside of the cabinet.
Then, press the catch against the lock and peel off the adhesive backing and press the catch onto the cabinet frame.
So, this is how to childproof drawers. I’m not sure how secure adhesive locks will be. You can also use spring-action latches which are more effective, but require drilling, which may need a professional intervention. You can read
