I decided to repaint my house, but before that, I had to get a few steps done such as cleaning the ceiling. So, I researched how to clean a ceiling before painting and found that it can be cleaned easily with dish soap and microfiber cloth.

How to Remove Mould from Ceiling Before Painting?

  • The ceiling has to be dusted thoroughly. This step is done to eliminate all cobwebs and dirt. A broom or duster can be used to dust the ceiling.

  • Next, the ceiling has to be washed. For tiled and flat ceilings a mixture of water and dish soap is preferably used. A microfiber cloth can be used for washing.

  • The ceiling has to be wiped after being washed. After it is done it can air-dry itself.

If crown moulds are on top of the walls then they need to be wiped off so that the ceiling is fresh before being painted.

  • All furniture and supplies need to be covered with a plastic sheet or a tarp first.

  • Use a Lint Brush or microfiber duster to remove dirt from Popcorn ceilings.

  • After dusting, you can spray Hydrogen Peroxide  on the stained areas. Then it has to be dabbed with a sponge.

  • You can also use the mixture of dish liquid and water and spray it to eliminate stains. Then a soft paint roller can be used to scrub away dirt.

I hope you get an idea of how to clean a ceiling before painting.
