Well, I can share three homely methods on how to clean cast iron sink that I learned from my mother and all of them are effective. You can always use market-bought cleaning solutions, but I observed that they damage the sink; hence, avoid using them. I use baking soda and vinegar to clean our cast iron sink, but there are other items that you can use. Let me share them here along with how to use them for cleaning.

How Do You Clean a Cast Iron Sink?

Cleaning a cast iron sink is easy if only you know what items to use and the process of using them. Here are three homely methods you can implement:

  • Baking Soda and Vinegar Scrub: Sprinkle baking soda on the sink, especially where the stain is hard and then spray a bit of white vinegar over it. Leave it for at least 10 minutes, then, using a small brush, scrub it well and wash it with clean water.

  • Dish Soap and Warm Water: For daily cleaning, you can just mix a bit of dish soap with warm water and scrub the sink with a brush. This will help you get rid of the stains and dirt from the sink and make it shiny. Make sure to rinse the residue properly with water and, if possible, wipe it with a dry cloth.

  • Lemon and Salt Treatment: For hard stains, I suggest you sprinkle salt on the spot and rub it with half a lemon. Leave it for 5 minutes and then rinse the entire sink well with water.

These three homely ways are very effective in cleaning cast iron sink and I am sure you will be happy with the outcome.
