Hi Abhay, I can tell you how to clean ceiling fans. For cleaning my ceiling fan, I use old pillowcases and a milk all-purpose cleaner. Apart from this, I also need a ladder or chairs to reach the fan. The process I use is comprehensive and gives good results when done regularly. Let me share the complete steps with you.

How Do You Clean a Ceiling Fan?

Here is the stepwise process:

  1. I first turn off the fan and place a stool, a ladder or a chair to reach the fan.

  2. After that, I spray the inside of the pillowcase with the all-purpose cleaner. You can alternatively use vinegar and water as a solution mixed in equal amounts.

  3. Use the pillowcase to wipe the blades. Be gentle with the motion.

  4. Do so for each blade of the fan. Then, use a microfiber cloth and run it along the blade’s edges to trap any remaining dust.

  5. With another microfiber cloth, I wipe the fan’s pull chain and motor. Spray the motor housing with compressed air to remove any trapped dust.

This is how to clean ceiling fan easily. I hope you will be able to clean your ceiling fan with the help of this.

I haven't cleaned my ceiling fan in ages and recently I noticed that the fan wasn’t moving fast enough. Since I wasn’t aware of why that was happening, I called a friend of mine, who is kind of a wannabe electrician, and told him about it. He told me that my fan needed proper cleaning and it would be fine after that. Then, I asked him, how do you clean a ceiling fan.

How to Clean Ceiling Fan Easily?

My friend told me that there are three basic steps and explained the whole process to me. Here is how I cleaned the ceiling fan.

Step 1: Preparation

I started the process by switching off the fan and then covered everything within the fans reach with old sheets. I remember my friend telling this to me as one of the basic things to do when it comes to how to clean ceiling fan blades without getting dust everywhere.

Step 2: Dusting

Next, I used a normal cloth to remove the dust from the fan. But before starting the process I covered my mouth and nose with a mask and put on Safety glasses to avoid the dust and debris getting into my eyes and mouth.

Step 3: Washing

The next step was to wash the blades and for that, I took an all-purpose cleaner and sprayed it on the blades of the fan. Now, I used a clean cloth to wipe off the blades. I waited for a few minutes for the fan to dry and turned it back on.

This is how do you clean ceiling fan blades. The whole process was a bit tiring and was a time-consuming affair. So I would suggest you hire a professional for the job.
