Amid the chaos of post-construction days, I found myself grappling with the question: "How to clean construction dust off walls?" Our home, a construction zone turned living space, bore the aftermath of dust settling on every surface. Seeking a solution, we opted for NoBroker's professional home cleaning services. I have learned some tricks that have become invaluable in keeping our walls dust-free, and I'm happy to share these straightforward methods with you.

How To Clean Dust Off Walls After Construction?

Start with Dry Cleaning:

Before introducing any moisture, it's essential to dry clean the walls. Using a soft-bristle brush or a dry microfiber cloth, gently sweep away loose dust from the surface. This prevents the dust from turning into a muddy mess when wet.

Vacuum the Walls:

A vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment can be a game-changer. Run the brush over the walls, paying attention to corners and edges. This step helps capture finer dust particles that may be missed during dry cleaning.

Use a Damp Cloth:

For stubborn dust or if the walls have a light layer of grime, a damp cloth works wonders. Make sure the cloth is just damp, not soaking wet, to avoid damaging the paint. Wipe the walls in a gentle, circular motion.

Mild Cleaning Solutions:

If the dust proves more resilient, a mild cleaning solution can be prepared. Mix a small amount of dish soap or gentle detergent with water. Use a sponge or cloth to clean the walls, ensuring you rinse the area with a clean, damp cloth afterward.

Spot Cleaning for Stains:

For specific stains or marks, a targeted approach is necessary. Create a paste using baking soda and water, apply it to the stain, and gently scrub with a soft brush or cloth. Wipe away the residue with a clean, damp cloth.

Navigating how to dust walls after construction can be challenging, but with the right approach, you can restore your space to pristine conditions.

After the renovation of our living room, I mopped the entire floor, but cleaning construction dust is not that easy. It takes a lot of effort. I have a kid, and I was very concerned about his health. To get rid of the dust entirely, I decided to learn how to clean construction dust from walls and the entire room as well. It will take one or two days maximum, but trust me, it is worth it.

How to do house cleaning after construction?

The process of cleaning construction dust is lengthy so here are the steps that you need to follow-

Remove goods from the room:

Before you start cleaning, you need to remove all the goods from the room, like furniture, decorations, or other things. It will be great if you lay down cloths or old sheets to protect the floor from the dust.

Dry dusting:

Begin by using a dry microfiber cloth or a dust mop to gently remove loose dust from the walls. Work from top to bottom to prevent the dust from settling on already cleaned areas.

Vacuuming:

If there is a significant amount of dust on the walls, you can use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to further remove loose dust and debris. Be gentle to avoid damaging the walls.

Wet cleaning:

For more stubborn dust or to tackle larger areas, you'll need a cleaning solution. Mix warm water with a mild dish soap or a small amount of all-purpose cleaner in a bucket.

Test a small area:

Before applying the cleaning solution to the entire wall, test it on a small, inconspicuous area to ensure it doesn't damage the paint or wall surface.

Clean from top to bottom:

Start cleaning the walls from the top and work your way down. Use a soft sponge or microfiber cloth dampened with the cleaning solution to wipe the walls gently. Avoid using excessive water, as it can damage the paint or drywall.

Rinse the sponge or cloth frequently:

Rinse your cleaning cloth or sponge regularly in clean water to avoid spreading the dust around.

Change the cleaning solution if necessary:

If the water becomes too dirty during the cleaning process, replace it with a fresh mixture to ensure effective cleaning.

Dry the walls:

After wiping down all the walls, use a clean, dry microfiber cloth to dry and buff the surface. This will help to remove any remaining dust and prevent streaks.

Ventilate the room:

Open windows or use fans to help the walls dry quickly and to allow any lingering dust particles to disperse. This is the best way to clean construction dust. You can always hire an expert cleaner, but I will suggest you at least try once to clean it. If you have any other tips for cleaning construction dust, please share them here. I have to opt for the renovation of my first floor soon, so I guess your suggestions must help me out as well.
