How Do I Clean Cork Flooring?
My mother used to vacuum or sweep the cork floors with a soft-bristled broom or a low setting on your vacuum.
After this, I remember she used to prepare a cleaning solution with soap, vinegar, and water. She also used to add a drop of mild dish soap with ¼ cup white vinegar and 1 quarter of warm water.
My mom avoids using cleansers that contain bleach as they can discolour the cork flooring. She also avoided acidic cleansers that might damage your cork.
After this, my mother used to mop the floor using a soft mop with that solution. The floor can be left to air dry or can be dried with a soft rag.
Make sure to Wring out any extra water while beginning to mop to avoid over-saturating the floor. This extra water could damage the cork.
I learned from my mom that it is best to avoid using a steam mop to clean cork floors. She always said steam mops use a lot of water as they clean the floor, which can damage cork flooring. The steam may damage the finish on your floor or the cork itself. It's best to avoid using this type of cleaner on your floors.
