As only a few days are left for Diwali, I have started cleaning my house and make it ready for the festivities. Recently, I hired a professional cleaner to help me clean my fur carpet, and I observed his techniques closely. This experience taught me valuable tips on how to clean fur carpet at home effectively. Fur carpets can be stunning but require special care to keep them looking their best.
How to Clean Fur Rug at Home?
The first step he took was to shake the carpet outside to get rid of loose dirt and dust. If you have a larger carpet, using a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment is the way to go.
He emphasised using the vacuum on a low setting to avoid pulling on the fur, which can cause damage.
Next, he showed me how to handle stains. For any spots, he quickly mixed a bit of mild soap with water and used a soft cloth to blot the area gently.
He advised against rubbing the stain, as that could ruin the texture of the fur. If a stain was stubborn, he suggested using a vinegar and water mix, which is a natural cleaner.
After spot-cleaning, he moved on to give the entire carpet a thorough clean.
He mixed warm water with a few drops of shampoo and dampened a clean cloth in the solution.
With a gentle touch, he wiped the fur in the direction it lay. Rinsing the cloth with plain water, he then wiped the area again to ensure no soap residue remained.
Once finished, he allowed the carpet to dry completely before placing it back. He even used a soft brush to fluff up the fur, which brought back its original beauty.
