I wanted to clean my granite flooring but I was not sure about it. Hence, I asked my mom about the same. She told me that granite floors are not like regular tiles and require special care. Unlike other tiles, for granite we have to choose the cleaner very carefully. She also shared some tips on how to clean granite floor, and I have shared the same here with you.

How Do You Clean Granite Floors?

Now I am going to share with you how to clean granite floor stains.

Sweeping and Mopping

The first step that my mom emphasised was sweeping and mopping. If you clean the floor regularly, it will maintain its shine and remove dirt and stains.

Special Care

She said that granite is a highly siliceous rock. The pH level of granite can range from 4–6. So, the cleaner should have a neutral pH, which means it\'s safe to use on granite without causing any damage to the floor.

Rinse Well

Wash the floor with clean water to get rid of any soap left behind. It\'s important to make sure there\'s no soap residue on the granite to avoid tough stains later.

Dry Immediately

Finally, I was asked to use a clean, dry cloth to wipe without any extra moisture and avoid water spots. If you see tough stains on your granite, make a paste with baking soda and water to help remove them.

These are the steps I followed to clean the granite floor. I would recommend the same steps to you for cleaning your granite floor as well.

Which granite is best for flooring?

I have granite floors all over my house, and I don’t have time to clean them regularly. Two days back, I noticed a couple of stains near the balcony area. I was planning to clean it using acid, but I had my doubts. I looked up how do you clean granite floors and learned that diluting liquid dishwasher can do a decent cleaning job for the granite floor.

How to Clean Granite Floor Stains?

There were a couple of methods for cleaning granite floors but I found this to be the easiest.

  • Start by grabbing a bucket and filling it with warm water.

  • Next, mix a few drops of dishwasher liquid in the water and mix it properly.

  • Dip a soft cloth into the solution and mop the stained area with it.

  • Repeat the process a few times.

  • Finally, wipe the area with a dry cloth.

And that is how to clean granite floors naturally. Now, there are other methods as well that you can follow, such as

  • White Vinegar and Water

  • Baking Soda and Water

  • Lemon Juice and Baking Soda

  • Rubbing Alcohol and Water

The steps for using these are similar. Just be careful about the amount you are using. I hope this is helpful.

How to Clean Balcony Tiles?

Hello, I have a granite floor at my house and I can help you with how to clean granite floor. The steps include sweeping, mopping, using a special cleaner, and more.

How Do You Clean Granite Floors?

  1. First, sweep and mop the granite floor. This is an activity you should perform regularly. Do not use common household cleaners on granite as they can cause damage to the stone. You can use specially formulated granite stone cleaner instead for mopping the floor.

  2. You can use this granite stone cleaner as a specialised cleaner because its pH levels are neutral. Choose one that does not have any abrasive properties. Apply a small amount to the flooring.

  3. Rinse the floor using clean water to get rid of leftover soap. Make sure that there is no trace of soap on the granite to prevent stains.

  4. Take a dry cloth and wipe the surface to remove any moisture and avoid water spots in the process.

  5. If you come across any tough stains, take baking soda and mix it with water. Apply the mix over the stain and let it stay there for some time.

  6. Scrub the paste and rinse it with clean water afterward. Wipe the surface with a clean and dry cloth to finish.

This is the entire process I follow. I hope you now know how to clean granite floor stains.
