Limescale is just mineral deposits or accumulation on a glass surface. I’ve often seen such deposits on my glass shower door. It's mostly calcium carbonate, which shows up on glass doors as a white crust buildup. I know how to clean limescale from glass, and can share a way with you all.

How to Clean Limescale from Glass Shower Doors?

Use Commercial Calcium Carbonate Remover

To remove limescale from shower screen, you can use a commercial limescale remover. You must find a well-reviewed cleaner made especially for removing limescale. Since you'll be using a chemical product to clean, remember to use it in an area with good ventilation.

Using Baking Soda to Remove Limescale

Glass in showers can be miraculously cleaned using baking soda.

  • Apply baking soda to the deposits using a moist towel and rub in tiny circles.

  • Baking soda's minimally abrasive properties help remove limescale from glass surfaces.

  • After cleaning the glass in your shower, wipe it off with a dry cloth.

Now that you know how to remove scale from shower glass, let us move on to the factors that you should consider to prevent limescale,

  • Hard water treatment: Installing a water softener at the source is the most efficient way to treat hard water, which has a high mineral concentration. In this manner, there are less minerals in the water that the showerhead sprays and limescale accumulation happens more gradually.

  • Preventative vinegar spray: You can use vinegar to avoid limescale even if you don't have the money to buy a water softener. After every use, spray the shower door with a vinegar spray bottle that you keep in there. Next, use a cloth to pat dry the glass.

I hope this helps!

Hard water minerals called limescale cause a common issue nowadays in almost every house. It accumulates on shower glass and detracts from the appearance of a bathroom more quickly than most other materials. Even after cleaning with baking soda, it may give the impression that your shower is unclean. Hence, I have described how to remove limescale from glass using lemon juice.

How to Get Rid of Limescale in Shower?

The natural acids in lemon juice aid in dissolving limescale, making cleaning simpler. To remove the limescale properly, you can follow the below steps:

  • Cut a lemon in half.

  • Next, apply it directly to the shower glass, paying special attention to the places where the accumulation is most noticeable.

  • After that, wash the shower glass with warm water.

  • Finally, use a fresh cloth to dry the shower glass.

You might also utilise a commercial limescale remover if the accumulation of limescale is hard. These products, which are available in most stores, are specially developed to remove limescale easily in hard water. To get a limescale-free shower glass, all you have to do is apply the remover, give it a thorough rinse, and then wipe it dry. I hope you got an idea of how to clean shower screen limescale.

Limescale is calcium carbonate or hard water deposits that happen when high mineral water content evaporates and leaves behind residues on the shower glass. I witnessed that our bathroom shower glass was rough and less smooth, and that is when I realised that it has limescale on it. I fortunately knew how to clean limescale from shower glass, so I could remove it very easily. You do not need to hire a professional to do it. You can clean it yourself. So let me help you out with how to remove limescale from a glass shower screen.

How to remove limescale from a shower glass?

You can buy a market bought cleaner and get your shower glass cleaned in no time. But the best way to clean limescale from shower glass at home is to use a vinegar solution. Let me share the entire process here-

Collect your supplies:

To clean the shower glass, you will need some common household items. Now get a bottle of white vinegar, water, a spray bottle, a soft cloth or sponge, a plastic scraper (avoid using metal, as it may scratch the glass), and baking soda (optional).

Make a vinegar solution:

In the spray bottle, create a solution by mixing equal parts of white vinegar and water. If the limescale buildup is severe, you can use undiluted vinegar, but be cautious not to use it on delicate surfaces or natural stone.

Spray the solution:

Liberally spray the vinegar solution on the limescale deposits on the shower glass. Ensure the affected areas are completely covered.

Let it sit for sometime:

Allow the vinegar solution to sit on the limescale for about 10 to 15 minutes. The acid in the vinegar will work to dissolve the mineral deposits.

Scrub gently:

Using a soft cloth or sponge, gently scrub the limescale areas in a circular motion. Avoid using abrasive scrubbers or brushes that could scratch the glass.

Rinse thoroughly:

Once you've scrubbed away the limescale, rinse the shower glass thoroughly with clean water. Make sure to remove all traces of the vinegar solution.

Baking soda (optional):

If there are still some remnants of limescale, you can make a paste by mixing baking soda with a small amount of water. Apply the paste to the remaining limescale spots, let it sit for a few minutes, and then gently scrub and rinse off.

Dry the glass:

Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe down the shower glass and prevent water spots. Removing limescale from shower glass is now complete. I will suggest you repeat this process once a month to avoid calcium carbonate deposition.

So this is how to clean limescale from shower glass. It has always been effective for me, and the best part is that you do not need to invest a lot of money.
