Cleaning maple floors can seem overwhelming, especially once the initial enchantment fades and you face reality of ongoing maintenance. I still remember the excitement of having them installed in my home. After some time, I realised the level of care they require. So I researched how to clean maple floors on my own and keep them looking gorgeous. I found that with a few simple steps and the right tools, you can maintain their beauty effortlessly.

How to Clean Maple Hardwood Floors?

Here is the process I followed to clean my maple wood floor:

  • Gather Your Supplies: To start, I ensure I have the right tools on hand including a soft broom or vacuum with a hardwood floor attachment, a microfiber mop, a pH-neutral wood floor cleaner, a bucket of warm water, soft towels or a clean, dry mop.

  • Daily Maintenance: For daily upkeep, I sweep my floor to eliminate dirt and debris. I find it’s important to do this regularly especially if you have kids and pets.

  • Weekly Cleaning: Once a week, I mix pH-neutral cleaner with warm water according to the instructions. Using my microfiber mop, I dampen it lightly as over-saturating can be harmful to the wood. I avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that could dull the finish.

  • Mopping Technique: I start mopping from one corner of the room and work my way toward the exit. I use long, even strokes and rinse the mop often to keep dirt from spreading.

  • Spot Cleaning: For sticky spots or spills, I gently wipe them up with a damp cloth and the wood floor cleaner. If there are tougher stains, I sometimes use a vinegar-water mix, but I always test it in an unnoticeable area first.

  • Drying: After mopping, I dry the floor with soft towels.

With this routine on how to clean maple wood floors, my maple floors remain as enchanting as the day they were installed. However, if you are cleaning your floor monthly, then it is best to hire a professional.
