The best way to keep your maple flooring clean and shiny is by sweeping or vacuuming the floors regularly. I usually follow a weekly cleaning routine, so let me guide you through the exact process of how to clean maple floors. One essential tip is to use the right products. Stay away from harsh chemicals which may damage the flooring. It’s always advisable to use a pH neutral cleaner.

How to Clean Maple Wood Floors?

Apart from sweeping or vacuuming your floors, which is a non-negotiable way, you must perform some necessary methods to keep your floors clean.

  1. Dark spots: If you’ve got dark stains on your floors, especially those caused by pets, you should immediately act upon it by using a mixture of vinegar and water. If you still have visible stains, consider applying a wood cleaner according to the instructions.

  2. Heel marks: This happened to me once, and I was worried about how to remove those scruff marks. I consulted with my mother, who suggested that I rub the floor with steel wool until the marks disappear. Luckily, it worked, so you can save this method for future purposes.

  3. Food-spills: Oil stains are typically difficult to clean than other marks, and it requires more attention. You can use a soft sponge or cloth, dipped in detergent solution, and rub the surface gently. Repeat this process until the stains are gone.

Maintenance Tips for Maple Flooring

When we first installed maple floors, I had read about some maintenance tips to protect them from damage.

  1. You must keep the floors away from direct sunlight which can damage the hardwood floors. You can do so by hanging curtains or blinds to block out the sunrays.

  2. I had also read that heavy furniture can lead to scratches and dent marks. So, to avoid this, you can use felt pads under the legs of your furniture.

I hope this gives you some idea about how to clean maple hardwood floors.

How to Clean Marble Floor?

Cleaning maple floors can seem overwhelming, especially once the initial enchantment fades and you face reality of ongoing maintenance. I still remember the excitement of having them installed in my home. After some time, I realised the level of care they require. So I researched how to clean maple floors on my own and keep them looking gorgeous. I found that with a few simple steps and the right tools, you can maintain their beauty effortlessly.

How to Clean Maple Hardwood Floors?

Here is the process I followed to clean my maple wood floor:

  • Gather Your Supplies: To start, I ensure I have the right tools on hand including a soft broom or vacuum with a hardwood floor attachment, a microfiber mop, a pH-neutral wood floor cleaner, a bucket of warm water, soft towels or a clean, dry mop.

  • Daily Maintenance: For daily upkeep, I sweep my floor to eliminate dirt and debris. I find it’s important to do this regularly especially if you have kids and pets.

  • Weekly Cleaning: Once a week, I mix pH-neutral cleaner with warm water according to the instructions. Using my microfiber mop, I dampen it lightly as over-saturating can be harmful to the wood. I avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that could dull the finish.

  • Mopping Technique: I start mopping from one corner of the room and work my way toward the exit. I use long, even strokes and rinse the mop often to keep dirt from spreading.

  • Spot Cleaning: For sticky spots or spills, I gently wipe them up with a damp cloth and the wood floor cleaner. If there are tougher stains, I sometimes use a vinegar-water mix, but I always test it in an unnoticeable area first.

  • Drying: After mopping, I dry the floor with soft towels.

With this routine on how to clean maple wood floors, my maple floors remain as enchanting as the day they were installed. However, if you are cleaning your floor monthly, then it is best to hire a professional.
