I have got oak cabinets in my kitchen. As Diwali is coming, I decided to clean them as well. But, I don't have any idea of how to clean oak kitchen cabinets. Hence, I researched about it and found that it can be cleaned with dish soap or white vinegar and water. I have shared the detailed process I followed.

How Do You Clean Oak Kitchen Cabinets?

Here’s what I’ve found works best.

  • I start by dusting them with a soft cloth to get rid of the surface dirt.

  • Then, for day-to-day cleaning, I mix some warm water with a bit of dish soap.

  • I take a cloth, dip it in the solution, and wring it out so it’s just damp, not dripping.

  • When I wipe the cabinets, I follow the grain of the wood, and I’ve stuck to it.

  • Once the soapy part is done, I wipe them again with a clean cloth dampened with just water to get rid of any soap residue. It keeps them from looking streaky.

  • After that, I make sure to dry everything off well with a soft towel to avoid any water damage to the wood.

Moreover, for those tougher grease spots that sometimes appear around the stove, I’ve found that a simple mix of white vinegar and water (equal parts) works wonders. All you need to do is apply it gently, let it sit for a minute, then wipe it clean.

If you have old oak cabinets, then I would suggest you use a bit of furniture polish or wood conditioner to keep the oak looking fresh and nourished. It really makes a difference in how the cabinets look long-term. I hope you get an idea of how to clean oak cabinets.
