We have oak kitchen cabinets and I generally use Murphy oil soap and sometimes a mixture of baking soda and vinegar, depending on the kind of stains. I learned all these tricks over time after a lot of trial and error, so I will be happy to share with you some tips on how to clean oak kitchen cabinets. Whatever method you choose, make sure you maintain the process.
How Do I Clean Oak Kitchen Cabinets?
I have three methods to share with you. If your cabinets are greasy and stained, I would recommend using any soap oil with warm water. Here are some steps you can take to clean them thoroughly.
Fill a bucket with warm water and pour any soap oil that’s available near you. This becomes a great cleaning solution.
Use a cloth or a rag to wipe down the cabinets.
Then, use another cloth to rinse cabinets with clean water.
This method will hardly take 5-10 minutes and always works for me.
Baking Soda and Vinegar Mixture
This is another method I personally use and it works great for lighter stains. Here’s what you need to do.
Mix a cup of white vinegar, a tablespoon of baking soda, and water.
Pour them into a spray bottle or any small bowl.
Then, you can spray the solution on the cabinets and gently scrub the surface with a cloth.
Undiluted Vinegar
I use this technique when I don’t have enough time and just want to get rid of slight dust over the cabinets. You can follow the steps below.
Soak a washcloth in undiluted vinegar and apply it to the cabinet surfaces.
Let them absorb the dirt for about 10 minutes.
Then, you can wipe off with a clean and damp cloth.
These are the methods I use and they have worked for me. I hope this helps you understand how do you clean oak kitchen cabinets.

I have got oak cabinets in my kitchen. As Diwali is coming, I decided to clean them as well. But, I don't have any idea of how to clean oak kitchen cabinets. Hence, I researched about it and found that it can be cleaned with dish soap or white vinegar and water. I have shared the detailed process I followed.
How Do You Clean Oak Kitchen Cabinets?
Here’s what I’ve found works best.
I start by dusting them with a soft cloth to get rid of the surface dirt.
Then, for day-to-day cleaning, I mix some warm water with a bit of dish soap.
I take a cloth, dip it in the solution, and wring it out so it’s just damp, not dripping.
When I wipe the cabinets, I follow the grain of the wood, and I’ve stuck to it.
Once the soapy part is done, I wipe them again with a clean cloth dampened with just water to get rid of any soap residue. It keeps them from looking streaky.
After that, I make sure to dry everything off well with a soft towel to avoid any water damage to the wood.
Moreover, for those tougher grease spots that sometimes appear around the stove, I’ve found that a simple mix of white vinegar and water (equal parts) works wonders. All you need to do is apply it gently, let it sit for a minute, then wipe it clean.
If you have old oak cabinets, then I would suggest you use a bit of furniture polish or wood conditioner to keep the oak looking fresh and nourished. It really makes a difference in how the cabinets look long-term. I hope you get an idea of how to clean oak cabinets.
