I wanted to see how to clean an overhead water tank at home. Since I had a Sintex Tank, I looked up videos on how to clean overhead water tank at home. It said if these steps are followed, the tank will be cleaned very easily. The tools needed are a high-pressure jet, water and detergent and a hard brush.

The steps are as follows:

  1. Empty the tank- The first step is to empty the tank, You can also use a sludge pump to drain out the water and also the sludge. 

  2. Scrub the Tank - The tank floors and walls have to be thoroughly scrubbed to remove dirt. Use a mask when scrubbing. Then wash the tank with the high-pressure jet.

  3. Disinfecting the Tank and Pipes - First Disinfect the tank with a bleach to make it germ free. Then do the same for the pipes as well by running water through them.

  4. Drying the Tank - All the residual water is drained out. Then the tank is left to dry. You can use the tank after it dries up.
