We used to have vertical blinds before and I must say, it’s quite tough to maintain them, especially if you’re not cleaning regularly. I too had the same concern, so after looking through some online videos, I found some ways on how to clean PVC blinds. I can share those with you. It’s slightly time-consuming but works pretty well.

How to Clean PVC Vertical Blinds?

I learned that the cleaning process will be slightly different for removable and non-removable blinds. Our blinds were removable, so I’d unhook the blind slats and remove dust from the headrails. Here are the steps you can take to clean your PVC blinds.

  1. To remove the dust from headrails, you can either use a simple microfiber cloth or a duster. I also found you can spray some silicons into the grooves, which will keep the blinds smooth.

  2. After the headrail is cleaned, it’s time to clean the blinds with a vacuum cleaner, preferably with a dust attachment.

  3. As a next step, you must wash the blinds to remove all the dirt and stains. I usually prefer warm water with detergent, but I read you can also use a washing machine in a ‘gentle’ setting but only if your blinds are machine-washable.

  4. If you have tougher stains, you can take the advice of Sonam and use a sponge to scrub away the stains gently.

How to Clean PVC Roller Blinds?

Now, we have switched to roller blinds as they work as more practical window decorations. However, with cleaning, it’s no less than a hassle. Though the process of cleaning them is pretty similar to vertical blinds, I mostly use fabric stain removal for spot cleaning. You can also use a sponge or a dishwashing soap.

I hope this will help you maintain your blinds easily.

PVC blinds are delicate and it is difficult to clean them in a washing machine, as there is a risk of bending. I didn’t know how to clean PVC blinds properly, so I asked my friend who has the same material for blinds, and she suggested a few ways to clean PVC vertical blinds. One way to clean them is by using a vacuum cleaner. Let me give you a detailed process.

How to Clean PVC Vertical Blinds?

The best way to clean PVC blinds is through a detergent solution and a microfiber cloth. I mixed my regular detergent powder with water and wiped the surface gently using a cloth. This might take time, but it is the safest way to clean the blinds. Here are three ways that my friend suggested cleaning the blinds effectively.

  • Vacuuming:

This method works well for all kinds of materials and is a great way to prevent more dust on the surface.

  • Spot Cleaning:

This is the same as using the detergent solution, where you need to carefully clean the blinds with a microfiber cloth.

  • Antibacterial Soap:

Another quick way to clean PVC blinds is using an antibacterial soap and wiping the surface gently with a damp cloth.

If the stains don’t go away with these methods, there is another method my friend suggested which I am sharing below.

  1. Take off the vertical blinds from the rod, and place them on a large tub with water. Keep the water slightly warm.

  2. Then, gently wipe away the dirt or stains with a cloth or sponge.

  3. Let the blinds soak in the water for a while. My friend said this differs from the above methods because when you soak the blinds in warm water, it will absorb the dirt and remove all the bacteria from the surface.

I hope this answer helps you understand how to clean PVC blinds.
