First, I took a bowl that was safe to use in the microwave and put water in it. I cut open a lemon, dropped the halves into the water, and squeezed the juice. I then gave the bowl a five-minute high microwave run. The steam works like a magic wand, softening all the gunk stuck up there.
Once the timer went off, I removed the bowl gently (use oven mitts; it's hot!) and used a moist cloth to wash the roof. The grime came off super easily. For extra stubborn spots, I used a little baking soda on the cloth and scrubbed gently.
