How to clean rug at home?

Hi there. I saw you asking how to remove stains from rug and clean it. I have a couple of rugs, one in my living room and the other in the bedroom. I can tell you the process where I use white vinegar and more in detail.

How to Clean Area Rug at Home?

1. Vacuum the rug. If the rug is reversible, vacuum the rug from both sides.

2. Use a brush and run it over the rug to remove any hair or dirt. 

3. For a small rug, take it outside, shake and beauty it well to remove any remaining dirt and dust

How to Remove Stains From Rug?

Here is the process to remove stains and clean the rug.

1. First of all, scrap off any solids with a spoon if the stain is still possible to be scrapped off.

2. Blot the moisture from the stain using a clean, white absorbent cloth. Work your way from the stain’s outside edge towards its centre to overcome spreading. 

3. Don’t rub the stain. Do the blotting till no more of the stain can be absorbed by the cloth.

4. Use a carpet stain remover and spray it over the stain. 

5. Alternatively, use a vinegar solution by adding ¼ teaspoon of white vinegar and 1 teaspoon of mild dishwashing liquid into 1.1 litres of water.

6. Apply the solution over the stain. Don’t overwet the stain. Let the solution remain over the stain for about 10 minutes.

7. With a clean, white and absorbent cloth, blot the stain from the outside. Do so till no more of the stain transfers to the cloth. 

8. Blot with cold water, followed by blotting the stain dry.
