Hello Devayan. I was also looking for methods regarding how to clean AC coils. My split AC was consuming a lot of electricity and I thought of cleaning them myself. I found a DY from the BlueStar website which I will share below. You need to clean the coils of the outdoor and indoor units separately. I used a coil cleaner and advise you to use the same.
How to Clean AC Coils?
Here is how you can clean the outdoor and indoor unit of your split AC:
Outdoor Unit
First off, wear a face mask, gloves and a hair cover to protect yourself.
Turn off the AC power supply and unplug it.
Check if the outdoor unit is safe to access.
You can use a vacuum cleaner to clean the coils or even be water washed.
If you’re using a vacuum cleaner, set it to blower mode and then clean the coil from a distance.
If you’re going for a water pressure pump, set the pressure to low and keep a 10-cm distance between the nozzle and the coil.
Apply gentle pressure only as the coils are sensitive. Avoid watering the electrical parts.
You can also use a bucket of water or a hose in case you don’t have a pressure pump.
Let the unit dry for 30 minutes.
Indoor Unit
Open the front panel of the unit and keep it aside.
Remove the filters and clean them separately if they are dirty.
Buy a coil cleaning solution to clean. Apply the solution to the entire coil in a zig-zag motion.
Let the foam sit for 20 minutes and penetrate the coils.
Attach the filters in position and place the front panel.
Turn on the power supply and set the temperature to 24 degrees.
Run the AC for 45-60 minutes to self-clean.
This is how to clean your ac coils. I hope it helps.
