Credit card debt collectors had once harassed my uncle even though he had never missed a payment. This was stressful and was caused because of the incorrect entries in his CIBIL report. He had to learn how to correct wrong information in CIBIL report. I will be happy to share the steps that he followed in this regard.

How to Correct Wrong CIBIL Report?

  • He logged into his

    CIBIL

Dashboard since he had a CIBIL account.

  • He was required to log in to update his CIBIL Score and report before filing a dispute.

  • To minimise erroneous disputes, he ensured he was referring to the most recent version of the report.

  • Filled in the dispute request form.

  • After this, he had to await the banks/financial institutions response. The typical processing time took up to 30 days. Accordingly corrections were made and he was notified.

How Can I Correct My CIBIL Report?

Additionally, my uncle pointed out that a dispute can be raised by writing to this address:

TransUnion CIBIL Limited

One World Center, Tower 2, 19th Floor,

Senapati Bapat Marg, Elphinstone Road, Mumbai - 400 013

In this manner, the report will be generated again with updated data.

A CIBIL report is a report that helps lenders assess your creditworthiness when you apply for loans or credit cards. However, sometimes there may be errors or inaccuracies in your CIBIL report, such as misprint, duplicate account, incorrect report of an active account, incorrect overdue amount, and so on. In such cases, taking corrective measures and correcting the errors is important. Go through the steps involved in CIBIL Report Correction from the below section.

CIBIL Report Correction Steps

Occurring mistakes in CIBIL Report result in a low CIBIL score, which can affect your possibility of applying for an instant loan like a personal loan and cause financial stress. Hence, if you find any mistakes on your CIBIL credit report, you must report it immediately to the bureau, requesting a correction.

I found discrepancies in my CIBIL report and I took the following steps to make corrections in my CIBIL report. You can check them out below:

  • Step 1:

Obtain a copy of your CIBIL report. You can download your report for free online as well as by having a subscription plan.

  • Step 2:

Check out the 9-digit long control number. Also, carefully go through the CIBIL report to identify any errors or inaccuracies.

  • Step 3:

Now, raise a dispute on the

    CIBIL official website

by entering personal details,  the control number, mentioning the error type, and sending a request along with the supporting documents.

  • Step 4:

CIBIL will then examine the dispute and rectify the errors if found to be true. Once it gets corrected, your credit score will be updated accordingly.

This is how to make correction in CIBIL report. If you have further questions on the matter, I would be happy to help you out. Just drop them in the comments section below.
