How To Cover Air Conditioner?

AC units are quite big and I don’t know why I feel they ruin the look of a house. Therefore, I asked my office colleagues to share some ideas on how to hide air conditioner unit outside. Some ideas were to paint the unit with the same colour used for the exterior walls; some suggested enclosing the unit using wood or PVC. I learned about three excellent ways so here they are.

How to Cover Air Conditioning Unit?

There are many ways to cover your AC unit so choose from the list of ideas here:

Use Decorative Screens: 

The best way to hide an AC unit is to install decorative wooden or metal screens around the unit. This will conceal it aesthetically while still allowing proper ventilation.

Match the Exterior Painting: 

Paint the AC unit to let it blend with its surroundings. You can paint it the same wall colour to make it less noticeable.

Enclose the Unit: 

You can also build a custom enclosure with materials like wood or PVC that go well with your home's exterior design. This will surely hide the unit’s visibility.

Our air conditioner is about 3 years old and is working completely fine. But I recently observed that there is some dirt and marks on our white AC and I am not liking it. My aunt is from Delhi and sometimes it is quite cold there. She has also lived in Siliguri which gets very cold in the winter season and there she got to know that though ACs can withstand excessive cold yet covering is recommended so that it can prevent water from directly resting on the coils and freezing which could be damaging.

How to cover air conditioner vents in winter?

My aunt said that for closing the vents, she knows of two materials that are:

• Pieces of ply board or cardboard as per the vent size

• Foam can be used as well to plug them from outside
