It could be tough to paint perfect lines where the wall meets the ceiling. But over the years of doing it myself, I have kind of learned two tricks through which painting the perfect ceiling lines is possible. These two methods involve using a caulk and an angled brush for the paint job. I have added the steps for how to cut ceiling paint with these methods below.

How to Cut in Paint at Ceiling?

Method 1: Using Caulk

From my experience, I can say that this is the most time-consuming of the two methods. But this is the best way to create that crisp line where the ceiling meets the wall. Here are the steps for this method.

  • Start by adding painters tape to the ceiling and the wall about 1/8" apart from the corner line.

  • Next, add a line of caulk between the opening of the two strips.

  • Following that, use an ice cube along the caulk to make it smooth.

  • Finally, remove the painter's tape.

Method 2: Angled Brush

Though this method is less time-consuming, it takes a little bit of practice. Here are the steps you can follow:

  • Pick a 2” angled brush and apply paint to the wall around 1/4" down from the ceiling.

  • Before adding more paint to the brush, use it and do the same on the ceiling just like the last step.

  • The best way to do this would be to use the tip of the brush.

And that’s how to cut a ceiling with paint. Hope this helps.
