I recently hired a painter from NoBroker to get my house repainted. Since my house was built around 20 years ago, many switch boxes were on the walls. I instructed him not to paint over them and he said that he would cut the paint around them. I asked him what he meant by cut paint to which he said painting around the edges of sockets, and switches. Following this, he told me about the steps of how to cut in when painting.
How to Cut in While Painting?
The painter told me to start by mixing the paint by stirring it thoroughly. This is important to ensure paint isn’t clumped. After that, he asked me to load the brush by tapping it on the side of the paint kettle. According to him, this is done to ensure enough paint in the brush when cutting in. Here are the rest of the steps.
Start by covering the switchboard with painter's tape. For that, you need to ensure that the tape is along the edge of the board.
Next, use an angled brush to cut neatly along the edges of the board. You need to do it slowly and steadily.
Once the paint dries a little bit you can remove the tape to reveal the lines.
The explanation seemed quite easy but to be honest it needs a lot of experience to do it perfectly. I would suggest you, too, hire a professional for the job. Hope this helps.
