How to declutter a living room?

A few days ago, I planned to declutter my living room. It was so long overdue, and my kids always end up creating a mess in that room. Since it’s a common area, that is also where guests come and sit, so it had to appear clean and inviting. But since there was so much junk, I didn’t know where to start. So I looked up online how to declutter a living room. There were various ways given, so I just went with an organised one that I understood the best. It’s quite simple actually once you figure out where to begin.

How to Declutter Your Living Room?

• I started by cleaning all the surfaces, including the couch, bookshelf, and tables of all the unnecessary stuff, and arranging all the other things where they belonged. There was so much stuff that had gathered up over the years that needed to be sorted. 

• Among all the things that we didn’t need anymore, I sorted the items into things that needed to be donated and thrown away. Things that were still functioning but not useful to me I donated, and completely useless items I threw away. This also reduced waste production.

• Another thing I found online that helped me was desk and table organisers that kept a lot of my stuff in place. I also purchased wire organisers for the area where the TV and Wi-Fi router are located because the wires create such a mess and pose a danger to children.

• A major issue was the toys that my kids randomly threw anywhere in the living room, making it look cluttered. So I set aside a tiny shelf to keep their toys on and the room clutter-free.

• Finally, I wiped down all the surfaces with a lukewarm wet cloth and arranged everything in their places.

Once everything was sorted, the space seemed so much larger and lighter. I also understood that decluttering involved more than just getting rid of stuff—it also involved designing an atmosphere for my home that felt light and comforting. I hope you understand how to declutter a living room.
