Out of all the festivals we get to celebrate, diwali is certainly my most favourite. I love how everything lights up, quite literally! The happy faces, glowing diyas and lit up house is what I live for. Every year I try to amp up my home decorations for diwali. Since you are asking how to decorate home in diwali. • You must ensure that the house is clean. And I mean spotlessly clean. You can go on a cleaning spree by yourself or you can hire professional cleaners.

• You must get rid of all the old and useless things in your room. Especially worn out and chipped furniture, idols in temples, etc.

• Get all the supplies beforehand to start with the decorations.

Once you have all the supplies ready you can start with the decorations. Here are the tips I religiously follow:

• Start with the Pooja room of the house. Clean it and make sure nothing gathers dust or is broken in there. You can start by hanging some genda phool malas and even hang some string lights. I make sure that my pooja room has lakshmi feet impressions and a small rangoli. Leave some space for diyas as well. Apart from all of these I add definition with some silver and brass utensils which complement the overall decor and can also be used as holders for prasad.

• Next, I move on to the outer part of the house. I like to keep it basic with a combination of yellow and white string lights. They hang down till the end of the building. I should tell you it is aesthetically pleasing and a much easier arrangement.

• Then I start with the decoration of the house. I like to keep it minimalistic hence just a few genda phool malas, a couple of door hangings do the trick for me.

• Then comes the most exciting part; making rangoli. I spend a lot of time browsing through rangoli designs and then dedicate hours to perfect it. Undoubtedly this is my favourite task of the drill.
