Hey, I am an interior designer and can tell you how to design a cupboard for clothes. There are some processes involved in the cupboard design step. So, I’ll list them down below.
How to Design a Closet?
The first step is to measure the space. Use a pencil and notepad and accurately record the dimensions of the cupboard. This includes the following:
Measure the height from the floor to the ceiling
Measure the length of usable wall space.
Measure the back wall for reach-in closets and measure the back and side walls for walk-in closets.
Measure the depth of the space.
Next, pick your style between walk-in and reach-in. Walk-in ones are small rooms specifically for storing clothes. On the other hand, the reach-in ones are small and more on the functional side, thus ideal for small bedrooms.
You then have to pick the closet organisers between wire and wood. The wire shelving and closet organisers are less expensive and easier to install with multiple closet measurements. Wooden ones are strong, beautiful and cost-effective. This comprises cupboard rods, drawers and more.
Move on to customising your closet using elements like closet towers, shelves, hanging rods, baskets, cubbies and drawers.
After you have picked and installed your closet organisation system, look for maximising the storage space.
Have a closet which is at least 24 inches deep.
Have a shoe shelf of about 6 to 7 inches apart vertically
Double hanging rods should be installed at least 84 inches high.
For clothes storing shelves, each shelf should be 12 inches vertically apart.
Clothing items differ in the space they take up on the hanging rods. So, plan accordingly.
This is all from my side. I hope this will help.
