Besides keeping your terrace void like a desert you can add some climbers to spice things up. I have myself planted a Madhabilata tree in my roof and the climber looks amazing with its pink flower petals. In the evening my house is filled with the sweet aroma of the Madhabilata flowers and it looks fantastic from outside. Plus I have privacy in my terrace due to the climbers. ;)
Add a fountain
You can also add a fountain on your terrace to spice things up. If you plan to grow vegetables this will be beneficial. You can easily create a DIY fountain and keep some pebbles near it to make things more attractive. This idea is unique and one of the best small roof garden design ideas.

Add some furniture
Last but not least, add some furniture so that you can also sit and enjoy your time on the terrace. I spent a lot of time on the terrace so I also purchased an electric grill machine to make spicy delicious Kebab. My kids and I spent most of the time on the rooftop playing during the weekends.
