To detect credit card fraud, follow these steps:
  1. Monitor your credit card statements regularly for unauthorized or unfamiliar transactions.
  2. Check your online account frequently for any suspicious activity.
  3. Look for unusual patterns or activities on your credit card, such as multiple transactions in a short time or purchases from unfamiliar merchants.
  4. Pay attention to small charges that may be test purchases.
  5. Be cautious of phishing attempts or suspicious emails asking for your credit card information.
  6. Use secure and reputable online merchants when making purchases.
  7. Keep your credit card information secure and avoid sharing it with unauthorized individuals.
  8. Consider using credit card monitoring services that alert you to any potential fraud.
  9. Contact your credit card issuer immediately if you suspect fraud or notice any unauthorized transactions.
  10. Regularly review your credit reports to ensure there are no fraudulent accounts or activities associated with your name.
Remember, being proactive and staying vigilant is crucial in detecting credit card fraud and minimising its impact.

Technology has indeed developed every nation, but sometimes, instead of being a blessing, it can be a curse as well. Even if you come across a fraudulent money transfer through a credit card, you cannot do the credit card fraud detection yourself. It is the work of an expert. On top of that, there are multiple processes to detect it, and ordinary people do not have access to any of them. But it is good to have an idea of how to detect credit card fraud. If you ever come across one, report it without any hesitation. I had read the methods once online, so let me share a few of them.

How to detect a credit card fraud?

There are multiple ways of credit card fraud detection like-

Using AVS to verify a card holder’s identity:

AVS, or

Address Verification System, helps verify the identity of a cardholder. It also helps to know the person’s name, address, and other personal information. But AVS cannot be believed 100%.

Verifying the IP address of a customer:

When one purchases a product online, his or her IP address is located near the customer’s address. If an IP address shows that a product is bought from a different country than the cardholder’s address, the transaction will be questioned, pointing out that it is a fraudulent transaction.

Using multiple identities:

If multiple identities are detected to be making purchase using the same IP address, it is to be believed that such transactions are fraudulent ones

These are some methods I know of.
