Hi Farhan. I know how to dismantle an office chair. My dad has a small office in our house. We were moving to another place, and he wanted help to dismantle and store the chairs to move to the new house. I helped him with the work by dismantling the chair part by part. We first took out the wheels, then the chair base, followed by the cylinder, armrests, backrest, and finally the headrest.
How to Dismantle a Office Chair?
Here is the stepwise method you can follow:
Wheels
Flip your chair upside down and apply lubricant spray over them. You can skip the spray if the wheels aren’t stuck.
Take pliers and pry or pull the wheels from the socket. Be gentle here.
Store the wheels in a bag and keep them in a safe place.
Chair Base
Remove the screws or bolts with the right sized screwdriver.
If the base feels stuck, apply lubricant over the area.
Carefully take off the base from the chair’s cylinder.
Store the base in a separate bag.
Cylinder
Take a pipe wrench and grip the cylinder near the bottom of the chair.
Turn and wiggle till the cylinder loosens and comes off. Be gentle to avoid damage.
Armrests
See the points where the armrests are connected to the chair. The points have screws or bolts.
With the proper tool in hand, unfasten the bolts or screws. Keep the screws or bolts safely in a pouch for later use.
You can then detach the armrests by gently lifting and removing them.
Backrest
Look for the connecting points on the back for the backrest.
Unscrew or unclip as required.
You can then slide or lift the backrest to remove it from the chair.
These are the steps you need to follow. I hope you now know how to dismantle office chair base.
