I have seen many households where the demarcation between a living room and a dining room are not clear but they do an exceptional job at making it clear for visitors which is which. If you want to understand how to divide a living room and dining room combo then I may have a few ideas for you. I hope you like them :)

Since living room and dining room combo are a common sight these days, sometimes people feel the need to separate the two by not using the obvious methods. So here are a couple of ideas which might help you to get the right feels of both the sections.

Get separate carpets

You can define the living room area and dining room area by having two separate carpets for each of them. Mind that the carpet you choose for your dining room should be stain resistant and water resistant, that would make the cleaning part easy.

Set the furniture as such

Typically a living room has a sofa or couch set, a center table and a few decorative pieces here and there, whereas a dining room usually has a big dining table and chairs mainly. You can assign a corner to the dining area and leave a foot or two gaps to arrange your living room furniture accordingly. This will be a distinctive separator of the two.

Use the lighting

If you have a big living room and dining room combo then it is easier for you to separate the two with the help of different lighting. You can either separate the area with an exquisite piece of chandelier or you can go ahead and add a warm lighting for your dining area. The living room lighting in my opinion should be bright and chirpy.

Install a Lattice Divider

You must have noticed those big wall-like structures in some homes which have patterns made on them. These are lattice dividers. These are a perfect option to separate the living room and dining room.

I hope I was able to give you valuable options.
