Bhoomi Pooja, also known as Bhumi Puja, is a sacred ritual in Hindu culture performed before commencing the construction of a new house. This auspicious ceremony seeks blessings from the divine and Mother Earth to ensure a harmonious and successful building process. Let's delve into the steps to perform Bhoomi Pooja and understand its significance. Step 1: Choose an Auspicious Date Selecting an auspicious date and time is crucial for the Bhoomi Pooja. Consult a knowledgeable astrologer or priest to determine a suitable day based on the family's astrological charts and the Hindu calendar. Typically, the ceremony is performed during the waxing phase of the moon or on specific auspicious occasions like Akshaya Tritiya or Gudi Padwa. Step 2: Purify the Land Before the Bhoomi Pooja, clean the construction site and remove any debris or impurities from the area. Sprinkle Gangajal (holy water) or Panchamrit (a mixture of milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar) to purify the land and prepare it for the sacred ceremony. Step 3: Construct the Mandap Erect a temporary mandap or altar at the chosen site. It can be made using banana stems, sugarcane, coconut leaves, or simple wooden planks adorned with fresh flowers, rangoli designs, and beautiful paintings of Hindu deities. Step 4: Invoke Lord Ganesha and Other Deities Begin the ceremony by invoking Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, and seeking his blessings for a smooth and successful construction process. Chant the Ganesh mantra and offer fresh fruits and flowers along with a mesmerising painting of Lord Ganesha to the deity. Step 5: Perform Navagraha Puja Next, conduct the Navagraha Puja, seeking blessings from the nine planetary deities to ensure harmony and prosperity in the new dwelling. Display enchanting paintings of the Navagrahas and offer flowers and incense sticks as a gesture of reverence. Step 6: Offer Prayers to Mother Earth The central part of the Bhoomi Pooja involves offering prayers and gratitude to Mother Earth (Bhoomi Devi). Place a small silver or copper pot (Kalash) filled with water, betel leaves, betel nuts, and coins into the ground. Tie a coconut with mango leaves atop the pot, symbolising prosperity and fertility. The priest will then perform the rituals and offer prayers to Mother Earth, seeking her blessings for the project. Step 7: Sacred Fire Ceremony (Havan) Conduct a Havan (sacred fire ceremony) to purify the environment and invoke positive energies. Offer specific ingredients like ghee, herbs, and samagri into the sacred fire while chanting Vedic mantras for divine blessings. Step 8: Seek Blessings from Elders Invite family members, friends, and neighbours to participate in the Bhoomi Pooja. Seek their blessings and well-wishes for the successful completion of the house construction.   Regards ajay rawat

The word Bhoomi means Mother Earth. We Hindus believe in performing Pooja before achieving something. It helps us get positive strength. Just like that before the construction of house Bhoomi pooja is completed to invite all the positivity. Bhoomi Pooja is performed in honour of Goddess Bhoomi and Vastu Purush who is known as the deity of direction. I will share with you the process of house construction bhoomi pooja.

How to do Bhoomi Pooja for house construction?

Bhoomi Pooja is always performed in the north east corner of the construction site because the north east is considered a sacred corner of the plot. After building a compound wall, we should make sure that the south west portion of the wall is higher than the other walls of the house. So, the east and north sides of the walls must be shorter than the south and west sides.

Before performing the Bhoomi puja you should clean the site property. Keep in mind to clean all sorts of trash holes located inside the plot. Dig a pit in the northeast direction of the plot. Being the plot owner, you should face the East direction while performing the Bhoomi pooja.

Place a coconut with cloth in the ground and also keep idols of Naag and Naagin made of silver.

Put four limes in the corner and one in the centre and crush it later.

Then perform the Ganesh Pooja and other important pooja such as Devi pooja, taking a Sankalpa, shatkarma, pran pratishtha and Manglik dravya sthapana.
