Out of all the festivals we celebrate, Diwali holds a really special place in my heart. The lights, the hustle and bustle in the streets and the calmness during diwali pooja just melt my heart. Gratitude at its peak I tell you. But while we are talking about enjoying the festival, we must also know how to do diwali pooja at home. There is a vidhi which is followed for the same. But before going into that, we should make sure that we have a clean house and we are decorating it beautifully. Of course, it has to be there right?
Diwali lakshmi pooja at homeFor diwali pooja at home, my mother has a set list of things which we pick up from the market. Here is the list:
Red cloth to put on platform of mandir
A silver or bronze kalash
Supari and paan ka patta , mango leaves, rice grains and silver coin for kalash
Idol of Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha
Tilak, flowers, sweets, fruits, prasad, coconut and water
Fairy lights and other material for decoration
Diyas and candles
Colours to make rangoli
After decorating the mandir, we place everything on the platform and this is how pooja vidhi goes:
We light the diyas using candles and apply tilak on Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesha and the family members. We also apply tilak to fruits and prasad.
Next we distribute flowers within the family members
Then we proceed to the aarti - lord ganesha and lakshmi ji’s arti are the main. We have to recite a few mantras as well.
Once that is done, we offer the flowers to the Gods and fold our hands to thank God for all we have.
Our pooja is quite simple but I spend a little more time in the pooja ghar as it gives me peace and time to connect with God.
