Hanuman known by many names such as Anjaneya, Bajrangbali, Sankat Mochan, Pavan Putra was born on full moon day in the month of Chaitra. In India, people love preaching Hanuman because of his loyalty to Lord Ram. The way he fought against Ravana still makes us feel that he is Chiranjeevi or immortal. Let me share with you how to do Hanuman puja at home. My father was a priest so he always told me that doing the Hanuman pooja in life will help me be more disciplined in life.
I have been doing Hanuman puja on every full moon in the month of Chaitra so I think I can tell you the best way on how to do Hanuman pooja at home.
For Hanuman puja vidhi at home, I always start by rising early and taking a bath. I do some meditation and then do the Sankalpa, that is I take a pledge to perform the Hanuman puja with full responsibility. After that, I place a yellow cloth on a piece of wood where I place an idol of Lord Hanuman. I place the idol facing the east direction. Then I light a lamp with ghee in it to purify surroundings.
To begin the Hanuman Puja I invoke Lord Ganesha so that I can perform my puja without any difficulty.
Things I offer during the Hanuman Puja:
yellow or red cloth or a kalava
Janeu and Akshat
Chandan paste or natural perfume
Marigold flower
Dhoop
Lamp
I begin the Hanuman Puja after invoking Lord Ganesha. I chant the Hanuman Mantras and recite the Hanuman Chalisa.
I offer bhog to God which includes fruits such as paan, supari, one brown coconut, Dakshina, banana. Then I do the Parikrama and complete the Aarti.
I offer some flowers and in the end, I apologise for any error I have made in the pooja time.
