How to do name change in water bill?

A few days ago, I realised I needed to update my water bill change of name because the bill was still under the previous owner’s name. I wasn’t sure how to go about it, so I called my friend for help. He came over, and I observed the whole process. It was actually easier than I thought, so I decided to share how it went.

How to Change Water Bill Name Online?

The basic step to change water bill name online are as follows, 

1. Visit the Official Water Supply Website: First, visit the website of my local water supply department. There’s usually an option to apply for a name change in the customer service section.

2. Log in or Register: If you’re a new user, you’ll need to register with your account details. For existing users, just log in.

3. Fill Out the Name Change Form: Once logged in, search for the water bill change of name option. I had to fill out a simple form with my details and the documents required for the change, like proof of ownership and identification.

4. Upload Supporting Documents: After filling out the form, upload scanned copies of documents (Aadhar card, property papers, etc.).

5. Submit the Request: After double-checking everything, submit the request online. The website will confirm the change within 7-10 days.

Here is how to change name on water bill online in West Bengal:

• Visit the

  Department of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Government of West Bengal

  portal

• Select Citizen Tab

• Click on New Registration 

• Fill in all the details like name, age, email and others

• Click on Submit

• Tap on the Login option next

• Select Name Change in the Water Connection option from Water, Sewer/Drain Connection

• Enter AIN or Buyer Mobile Number

• Click on Submit

• Fill in all the details in the form next like applicant type, name, address and others

• Click on Next

• Then tap the Owner Declaration Check box and select Save 

• View the form and click on the Send to Nodal Officer option

In this portal, you can check your application status as well by visiting the Water, Sewer/Drain Connection once the application gets done. You can also take a look at their
