How to do an Ombre Wall?

1. Begin by dusting and wiping down the wall to clean the surface. Pick the light paint shade and paint the entire wall with the colour. 

2. After the paint dries completely, measure three equal sections on your wall. Make the markings using a pencil. The topmost section will have the lightest paint colour, followed by the darkest paint at the bottommost section and the third paint goes in the middle section. This is an important step to learn how to do ombre wall paint.

3. Begin painting the middle section on your wall with the second-lightest colour. Leave about 6” of space between the edges of each of the three sections. Hold a dry brush at an angle of 45 degrees to blend. 

4. Now, paint the bottom section with the darkest colour and leave one foot between the colour sections.

5. Then, mix the middle shade and the lightest colour at a ratio of half to half In a fresh paint liner. 

6. With this colour blend you’ve obtained, paint the 6” gap between the lightest and the middle sections. 

7. Use a dry brush and hold it at an angle to quickly blend up till the time you reach the next section of colour.

8. In a fresh paint liner, mix the middle shade and the darkest shade at a ratio of half and half, as you did for the previous section. 

9. With this second new colour blend, paint the 6” gap between the middle and darkest colours. 

10. Use a dry brush at an angle to blend up quickly till you reach the next colour section. Brush the three sections all at once till you reach the ombre level of your liking.

Begin at the top with 3 deep graduated shades, end with the lightest, and blend for a gorgeous result. Let me tell you how to do ombre paint on walls:

• Painter’s tape

• Ladder

• Drop cloth

• Three paint rollers and roller covers

• Three paint trays

• Three paintbrushes

• Paint in three shades

• Paint mixing craft sticks

• First, spread the cloth on the floor and use painter's tape to tape off the wall. Fit all roller frames with a cover. Pour every paint into a different tray.

• Roll a roller in the lightest colour paint and use it to paint the whole wall.

• Dip the 2nd roller into the darkest colour paint and use it to add a stripe of 18 inches at the wall’s top. After that, dip the 3rd roller into the middle colour paint and use it to add a stripe of 18 inches about 1-inch below the darkest colour.

• Make sure to work fast to prevent the stripes from drying, add some of the medium colour paint to the darkest colour paint tray and mix it well. Apply the mixed colour to the area between the stripes using a wet brush, blending and blurring the colours.

• Add some of the lightest colour paint to the medium colour paint tray and stir it well. Apply it below the second stripe using a new wet brush, blending and blurring the colours. Keep adding colour to adjust the fade and blend with a wet brush until you are satisfied with the result. Allow the paint to dry completely.
