Hey,

You could have experienced the problem of an obstructed geyser if you reside close to the ocean. Since I reside in Puri, I encounter this problem rather frequently since stones and other sediments collect at the surface of the heater, jam the drain valve on the geyser, and harm the geyser. Therefore, it is crucial for me to routinely clean my water heaters. An occasional draining of a geyser extends its lifespan by years. That is why it's crucial to drain and clean your geyser at a minimum once a year. If you want to learn how to drain geyser, you can either call a plumber or you can do it yourself by following these straightforward instructions.

Hire a professional and skilled plumber from NoBroker to get your geyser drained properly and at a very reasonable price. Get your geyser repaired and serviced with the help of expert electricians of NoBroker at the best market rate.

How to drain a geyser?

  1. Turn off the heating element of the heater. If the heater is electric, shut off the fuse box. Set the thermostat to the "pilot" mode if the heater is gas.

  2. Cut off the tank's water supply. The shut-off valve is most likely on tubing that enters the tank's top.

  3. Find the outlet valve at the water tank's base. Garden hoses should have one end connected to the valve. Another tip of the hose should be inserted outside, into a drain (such as a neighbouring sink or toilet), or both. The water will eventually flow out here.

  4. Where the hose was just joined, turn on the drain valve. Take note of the water's hue. It will first be a dark, rusty colour when the sediment mixes it with it. The water will become transparent after several gallons have been lost.

  5. When you notice clear water coming out, close the drain valve.

  6. Restarting the water supply will allow the tank to fill.

  7. After the tank is filled with water, turn the electricity back on.

This is the method I follow for how to drain geyser. I hope it helps you too.
