A Cooperative Housing Society can function smoothly only when the members of the managing committee take responsibility for the administration of the society. Society members trust them and this is why they give the managing committee the charge to look after the welfare of every member. Let me tell you how to fill vacancy in managing committee of housing society:

In the event of a vacancy occurring on account of resignation, death, or otherwise, it shall be filled in by the society, as per the provision of the society’s bye-laws. Society can make its own bye-laws but they should never contradict the concerned state’s Societies Registration Act.

Election of all committee members is held once in five years, before the expiry of its term. The society committee may co-opt two “Functional Directors” and two “Expert Directors”. The committee members shall include two government officers nominated by the State Government. The State Cooperative Election Authority conducts the Society Election.
