If you are planning to buy or sell a property or if you are already a landowner in India. Then it is very important for you to understand the concept of Khewat number and how to find khewat number online. Khewat number is also used at the time when you claim your rights on your forefather’s property.

Khewat number is also known as the Karta number. This number is issued by the land revenue official, to the owner of a particular land parcel. Khewat number comes under Jamabandi. Every landholder has a different Khewat number and that number clarifies the owner of the land.

If you as joint owners want to sell the land plot, the Khewat number is flexible and varies. For example, consider two brothers jointly holding land with Khewat number 6 and selling it to a person with Khewat number 7. Then the identity of the new owners may get changed in the Khewat number 6 following the transfer. Get to know here how to check khewat number and how to check Jamabandi online.

Hey there,

Khewat number is an account number given to different owners of a land. I understood this when in 2019, I bought a land parcel while I was already owning another land parcel already. It is a number which is very crucial when it comes to clarifying the owner of a land.

The account number provided to owners who form a group of co-sharers who own the land with the same or different proportions is known as the Khewat number, or 'KHATA NUMBER' by revenue officials. As a result, it might be interpreted as the account number assigned to multiple Khewat owners. In the Jamabandi, the Khewat number goes sequentially from 1 to N. Due to rearrangements, the Khewat Number may change in the following Jamabandi, i.e. same owners who were owners in some Khewat previously may acquire a different Khewat number in the next Jamabandi.
